Saying adios to Puppy Pals

I will really, really miss those blue striped pajamas with the puppies on them.  I took them from Maria after Alex outgrew them (five years ago!) and have been waiting a long time to put someone in them.  It always made me smile to see Jane in them.  Now they're stored away (for the next baby, of course).

Anyway, for as long as Jane would tolerate it, I put a bunch of different clothes on her yesterday to see what fit and what was ready to store.  She's comfortably in 6-9 month stuff.  She's just about outgrown her bouncy chairs, too, as she keeps crunching her head and shoulders forward.  But we went out Saturday and bought her what's called a Bounce Bounce Baby that will keep her contained.  Want to see it?  Of course you do.
You can't see the bottom of it very well, but there's a platform underneath her, on springs, that her feet are supposed to graze (but not be flat-footed).  She seems to like it.  It's eventually going to work with Dad, but for now, it's at home.

Jane spent some time with Calvin a few weeks ago, as I mentioned.  They seemed to be good friends.

We've still only gotten two roll-overs from her.  I think she's just content to be on her belly for a decent amount of time.  That's not a bad thing!

 "What do YOU want?"

Her hair has really gotten thicker in the last few weeks.  Ignore the cradle cap.  We're doing our best to fight it.
Don't let the pictures fool you.  She's actually pretty bad at napping.  At least, with me she is.
 Did I do this right?
Andy and I can't stop laughing about this one.

Jane and I will be heading to Michigan next week for Thanksgiving.  She's got some new family members to meet!  And I've got pumpkin stuff to eat.  If you'll be in the Mitten too, let me know!  We'll party until 6:30 PM!

Quick pic

Andy's been out of town since Sunday, so I haven't taken any new pictures of Jane.  Our friend Serena agreed to watch Jane while I worked (THANK YOU!) and snapped this shot of Jane and her son Calvin.
Andy's on his way home and we'll see him tonight!!!

Jane's First Halloween!

I think the idea to dress Jane up as a TARDIS came while I was still pregnant.  So I solicited my mom to make her a TARDIS hat, which she did handily, I dressed up as Rose Tyler (though really the only costume part of my costume is that I was wearing way too much mascara, which you can't really see in the pictures).  Andy was the 10th Doctor, and Jane, in her Puppy Pals PJs and TARDIS hat, was our space-and-time-ship, bigger on the inside.

Plus some other pictures.  Random order!  I'm good at blogs.

I thought we needed some good shot of Jane in this onesie, since it's her-specific and can't be used on another child.  Well, it wouldn't make sense.  That doesn't mean we won't do it.

 Who wants all the candy?

P.S.  Jane totally would have slept through the night last night if I hadn't woken her up at 5 to nurse.  I call that a WIN!

Almost three months!

She's almost thirteen weeks old now, if I counted correctly.  There's no guarantee that I did.  She's sleeping well, and I'm sleeping better because of it, but I'm still quite tired in general.  Things get forgotten, or repeated three times, or garbled.  Andy asked what kind of cereal I wanted this morning, and I thought, "Cheerios," but I said, "Cereal."

As I said, she's generally sleeping well.  She's been in the crib for two(?) weeks now, and generally has one wake-up a night.  It's harder on me, because I have to be upright for the feeding, and we generally do a diaper change too (which she hates), but the last two nights, she's gone back down very easily.  We put her in a sleep sack to try and reduce her startle-reflex, and that seems to be helping.

We met again with Caitlin, just so she could check in with us now that we're old parenting pros.  It was really nice to connect with her again.  We mentioned again how glad we were to have had her at the birth, and she said how she had mentioned the birth to other doulas who were rightfully impressed.  I am pretty great.

Jane is Facebook-famous because she volunteers (involuntarily) with me at the Survival Center.  She's been tagged as their youngest volunteer.  :-)  We'll be back there again this afternoon!

I don't remember if anything else noteworthy has happened.  She has rolled over again, and Andy didn't see it again.  Hah.  He will!

Pictures, of course:

 Look how strong!

 Smiley
Oh yeah, we made an apple pie.  I still haven't mastered pie crust.  It tasted good, and Andy said it was a success, but I still can't roll out pie crust.  One day.

A hat that a coworker's wife made for Jane.  Andy loves it because it helps her to stay asleep longer!

Busy week

OK, I'll admit it.  I've forgotten how many weeks old Jane is.  "Two and a half months" is my answer when people ask how old she is.  Could I count it out on the calendar right now?  Sure.  But I probably won't.  Eh.

Anyway, whatever week we're in, we've been busy.  We decided that with the long weekend, it was a good time to transition Jane to her crib.  The idea was that if the nights went badly, Andy would be around to let me sleep in in the mornings.  Luckily for everyone, the nights have been going very well.  She's not going down as easily initially, but once she goes to sleep, we've only had one or two wakeups.  The first two nights she ate once in the middle of the night, and the last two nights she's woken up twice, with the second wakeup basically being almost time to get up anyway.  Last night she had leaked through her diaper, and I didn't feel like changing her sheets, so she came back to bed with us from 5:30-6.  It was some nice cuddle time, even if I didn't really sleep for that last half-hour.  I'll try to get a picture of her in her crib.  It's pretty cute.  It's funny--I thought Brisco would stop sleeping in there once there was a crying baby, but he still sticks around.

After last week's doctor's visit, she recovered nicely from her shots.  She cried much of that evening, but once she went to sleep, the night was fine.  Andy stayed home with her just in case she was in for a hard day, but he said that was fine too.  I'm not looking forward to the next round of shots, that are supposed to be harder on her than the first set, but I know they're important.  I don't know what Rubella is like, but I imagine some crying and a restless night is worth not getting it.

Another milestone: she rolled over the other day!  She was doing tummy time and surprised herself by suddenly flipping.  We didn't get any pictures of it, but that would have made a nice gif.  Maybe another time.  She's only done it once so far.

Josie, Maia and their mom Julie came to visit yesterday.  Julie took a few pictures of her girls holding Jane, and when I get a copy, I'll post them.  They had fun shaking toys over her head, stroking her hair, and letting Jane grab their fingers.  Andy had the camera (that is, his phone) so I didn't get any shots of those.  Very cute.

Anyway, here are the pictures I do have:
