Fall in Bristol

Jane's class made a volcano this week and she wanted to make more lava at home.

Jane had a sleepover with a friend a few weeks ago (before our second lockdown started) and she was so tired the next day she fell asleep like this half an hour before bed.

Andy is still battling a mysterious infection and wasn't able to comfortably stand to shave for many weeks. Just getting down to these mutton chops took half an hour! (They are gone now.)
Andy's PhD advisor Mark sent him this foram mask!
Alice in the toy bunk bed.
Alice in the hamper. She loves to carry them around. And draw on them, when we don't stop her.

Nakey in a box
I'm not sure this is how it works, but I don't drive here...

Alice loves the swings. She sometimes asks to get down and switch to the swing one over. Which is identical.

Hold still, Alice...

"Can you smile nicely for these pictures for Grandma?"

Joe Wicks did a Halloween morning workout on YouTube, so Jane and I dressed up and joined in!
Alice helped.

Alice drawing during some of the Halloween festivities. No trick-or-treating, but we sent Jane with some GF candy to a friend's where they knocked on the doors of the house and received treats.

I love this. The bench says, on the left, "Sad times", which it has said for a while. But the pink, which showed up a few days ago, says "Another world is possible and she is on her way... on a quiet day I can hear her breathing." That is a quote from Arundhati Roy.
As the weather changes, it was time to switch the bag o'hats from summer stuff to winter. Out came the fox hood.

August and September

And a bit of July.

In no particular order.... Some Battlebots that Jane got for her birthday. This is just one of them.

Alice drawing on herself
When we were sleep training Alice, our bed was brought out to the living room and Jane moved into our bedroom so Alice could have a room to herself. That meant that from 6 until 6:45, Alice's quiet time, we would all congregate on the bed and read books or chat. (That part was nice, but we're glad to be back in our correct rooms. I won't talk about how Alice is sleeping because why would I bring that on myself?)

The other day when Jane and I got home from school, Andy and Alice had come down to the garden and were drawing.

Yes, Jane is back in school. This will be the third week. She missed three days from a cold over the first and second weeks. Symptoms did not line up with COVID. We all got a miserable cold. Lots of kids have been out with colds or because they've been tested for COVIC and are waiting for results, or cannot get tested at all.

At the park. My FAVORITE sandals in the background! Still going since 2003!

Much like her sister, Alice loves her crocs.

Jane's birthday party. Not too long before this picture, it was pouring rain.
We gave her a guitar.

A reversible unicorn sequin shirt from Grandpa John and Grandma Karen

Wipe on her head. "Hat," she says.

"What?"
Jane wanted to take pictures of this ladybug, or ladybird, as they call it here.
It ended up biting her.
A local woman makes cakes and other goodies that are gluten-free. I ordered a box of brownies and blondies from her a while ago.

Andy had a chair delivered (courtesy of University of Bristol) so he could work more comfortably from home. And a big chair means a big box. So...

Alice likes the park.
Jane got a new nightgown.

Fancy nightgown deserves a fancy face.

I found this dress at a secondhand store and thought it had bunnies on it, but they're actually jackalopes!
Post-bath hair
One of her sick days when she fell asleep on me after nursing. We don't usually let her do that anymore!
Andy's beard has been growing in. Yesterday, he shaved it into mutton chops (not pictured).
Eh?

Playing at the park just today!
