Jane is a busy bee!

Lots of big changes on the horizon for Jane: she's teething, she's about to crawl, and in the next week, she'll get her first taste of food!  Also, one of these days, we're going to get her back to sleeping in her crib.

She gets a little upset sometimes when her mouth is hurting, but for the most part, she's still our happiest girl.  I took her out for errands last Friday and she lasted from 8:30 to 1:30.  She napped a bit, got a new ball, got to visit with some people at the Survival Center, and just as importantly, Dad got to work in his office.

Anyway, pictures, obviously.

Uncle Keith's favorite Maize and Blue fan
Monster Jams!  From Uncle Keith, of course

 SUPER BABY!

 Look at me, doing chaturanga.
We don't buy her pink clothes.  Honest.
Aunt Cat got her a (twelve-month) outfit.  Yeah, it already fits.

She's not showing it, but she LOVED being in this carrier.  Lots of giggles.
 All bundled up
Toys are great and all, but give me a cup!

Mmm...

She'll be six months next Monday.  So much is changing and has already changed!  It's hard to remember when she wasn't 20+ pounds.  She's got a doctor's appointment next Monday so we'll get another weight and length measurement.  (And shots, but don't tell her.)

Scientist-in-training

UMass studied Jane's brain.  She got a rattle.  We got $10.  Win-win.

Way overdue

...which I guess is appropriate, given how long Jane took to arrive.  :)

Our trip to California was quite nice, though Andy got sick and is still recovering.  Jane got to meet more family as well as her "aunt" Cat.

I've only got a few days' worth of pictures here so far, and some that were taken at home even before that, so basically, she looks totally different already.  But here, enjoy!

Jane is a great traveler.  She did very well on our flights and we got compliments from everyone around us.  She got a little cough while we were there, so we let her sleep in her carseat thinking that being elevated would help.  The only problem is that she's still not back to her crib because she loves the carseat so much!  Since Andy is still sick, we're sticking with the carseat until we're all back at 100%.  Or as close to it as we're going to get.  :-)

We think Jane might have started teething.  This morning she started crying inconsolably, which is odd for her when there's no apparent cause.  Andy says she seems in better spirits now, so who knows.  When we're all at home together, we'll see if we can get a closer look in her mouth.  I remember Maria putting brandy on Alex's gums when he was teething and became (more of) a tough customer because of it.

She had a bit of a diaper rash, which is supposed to be rare when you cloth diaper, but we've found that some coconut oil with a few drops of tea tree oil seems to be doing the trick, and is cloth-diaper safe.  (Most diaper creams leave a layer on the diaper, which causes the diaper to become waterproof, which is not good!)

She's a good little gal.  We're still in the process of trying to figure out daycare for her so that Andy can get back to working.  We'll miss hanging out with her, but it really needs to happen.

While we were in California, she got pretty good at sitting up.  She still tumbles sometimes, but that's what the carpet is for!  She also got some great toys, in which she's been really interested.

Tomorrow is Andy's birthday.  Thursday is generally my busiest day (with volunteering), so we'll be celebrating on Friday--with cheesecake.  Chocolate caramel cheesecake, no less.

There are plenty more pictures to be had.  I hope to get to those soon.  Happy New Year!
